A New Dawn for Sustainable Travel: Launching ‘Project Sunrise’ in Coron, Palawan

At Sunlight Hotels & Resorts, we believe the best way to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Philippines is by ensuring they stay beautiful for generations to come. We are thrilled to officially announce the launch of Project Sunrise—our flagship CSR initiative dedicated to blending hospitality with a deep, lasting, and sustainable commitment to our local communities.
From Romantic Sunsets to Island Resilience

Our journey began with a simple question: How can we turn a beautiful moment into a lasting resource?
Following our recent Sunset Romantic Dinner at Sunlight Hotel Coron, we found ourselves with high-quality, heavy-duty tarpaulins used for the event’s decor. Instead of letting these materials go to waste, Project Sunrise stepped in to give them a second life.
By upcycling these materials, we’ve taken our first official step toward zero-waste hospitality in Palawan.
Partnering with the Calamianes Resilience Network (CRN)

To ensure our efforts reached the heart of the community, we’ve partnered with the Calamianes Resilience Network (CRN). Led by the inspiring Teodorico “Ka Tisoy” De Guia, CRN is a lifeline for families living in remote, off-grid areas of the Calamianes islands that are often hardest to reach.
Through this partnership, our repurposed event materials are being hand-delivered to local families to help:
Weatherproof homes against the elements.
Build temporary shelters for fishing and farming.
Support daily livelihoods with durable, waterproof covers.
Why 'Project Sunrise'?
Project Sunrise represents our brand’s promise: to be a ray of hope and a leader in sustainable tourism in the Philippines. By combining eco-friendly practices with the premium service our guests expect, we’re proving that hotels and resorts in Coron can—and should—give back to the islands they call home.
This is just the beginning. As we grow, so will our efforts to protect the environment and empower the people of Palawan.
How You Can Help

The beauty of Coron belongs to all of us, and so does the mission to protect it. If you’re inspired by the work Ka Tisoy and the CRN team are doing to build strong, self-reliant island communities, we invite you to support their incredible cause.
